Do you need a better view of the road ahead, both figuratively and literally? Crystal Diamond Light by Ford may be able to help with both.
The diamond-facets of the lenses used in the new Crystal Diamond Light LED headlights help distribute light more evenly across the road, reducing the subconscious irritation that occurs when your eyes are forced to compensate for uneven lighting.
This could leave you feeling happier, more energetic, and less stressed out after a night drive, according to Ford optics expert Arun Kumar.
The LEDs also produce a bluish color, similar to the natural light of the sun's rays. "The eye perceives cooler, bluer lights better, therefore increasing visibility," Kumar explains.
So far, that's two major benefits of LED headlights over standard halogen lamps: visibility, and mood. If you think there must be some down-side to these lights, however, we haven't found one yet. A third advantage is found in efficiency. According to some estimates, Crystal Diamond Light is up to 62 percent more efficient than other lighting options.
"The efficiency of this lighting not only helps to stabilize the psyche," says Kumar, "but also has the potential to affect global environmental savings. As we democratize this lighting innovation to a broader audience, the impact could be significant, with millions of gallons of fuel potentially saved on a global scale."
