In case you missed it, the world’s longest and heaviest parade float made its debut at this year’s Rose Parade under the power of a Ford engine.
According to media.ford.com, the 125 foot-long 137,000-pound float made it way down the parade route thanks to a Ford 6.8-liter V10 gasoline truck engine. This is the same motor that can be found in Ford’s F-650 and F-750 trucks.
The float itself was themed “beachside paradise,” and was made by Lucy Pet Products. It included a one-of-a-kind 5,000-gallon wave maker called “Lucy Pet’s Gnarly Crackin’ K9 Wave Maker,” and had 8 trained dogs surfing down the parade route. A float this big and this delicate needs a motor powerful and steady enough to pull it, and nothing but a Ford Motor could do such a feat so well.
